Amy’s dreams are shattered.

Radio Times: Amy makes a bold move. Meanwhile, Brian tries to keep Adam on track.

Characters: Adam, Alice, Amy, Brian, Carl

• This is Adam’s first week back at work. Alice asks how it is going; ask again at the end of the week. Brian is cross that Adam has started without him. Is his concern is for Adam or that he will be in the doghouse if Adam does too much? They work well together and Adam does eventually take a break because Brian insists that he looks pale.
• Amy has decided to confront Carl at his workplace, with Alice parked round the corner for support. It seems he is in a meeting but eventually he appears and is not best pleased. Amy will not be put off, so he agrees to talk. She realises she tried to push him too hard by proposing to move in with him. Obviously he would need time to break it to his wife and make arrangements for his daughter. He is taken aback that she knows about both but relieved that she has made no contact with them. She is so naive. Did she really think that he would give up his beautiful, successful wife and their high society life for an NHS midwife with a vicar for a father? It is now clear to Amy that he never meant any of what he said to her; he used her; how could he? Bastard! She returns to Alice in tears.
