  • Toby has bought into Carol’s theories that herbs must be harvested at midnight during the full moon, especially marshmallow which Toby needs for his artisanal gin. As Toby returns at 1 am, Pip is highly sceptical.
  • Adam sets Lilian straight on the Ambridge cricket club female problem. Harrison did not tell Usha she was too old but rather that she had no talent for cricket. Adam asks about Justin. Lilian is unsure as to Justin’s true feelings. Adam interrupts the discussion with his concern about a bullock.
  • Justin and Brian discuss costs which are to Justin’s detriment. Justin asks about Lilian, He notes that he has taken Brian’s advice; Justin is playing the long game and is not appearing too eager. The divorce is going forward even though Miranda is playing hardball. Brian expresses concern but Justin notes that Miranda has played away as well. Adam comes in and announces that the cattle seem to have IBR. Alistair has been called.
  • Pip tells Toby harvesting at midnight is no way to run a business. Pip further observes that Carol is laughing at him. Toby is convinced that this will work. Adam comes in to announce that the IBR has spread to his cattle. Pip is stunned.
  • Justin confronts Lilian and wants to say ‘hello’. A juvenile discussion ensues. Justin ends with an announcement of a booking at a table at a rather lovely restaurant.
  • Pip tells Toby that she must ‘fess up to the loose cattle. Toby argues fiercely against this. Pip bleats that the main way of contagion is through direct contact. Toby counters nothing is to be gained by bringing wrath on her head when nothing can be proven. Don’t rock the boat, he advises and Pip seems convinced.
