Both Brenda and Rob are feeling put down by their respective employers.

Radio Times: Brian’s mind is on work and Brenda has lost direction.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • If Jennifer had hoped for a spark of interest, a bit of support, from Brian for her swishing evening, she is disappointed: his head is full of dairy matters and Rob is on his way round to give him an update.
  • Brenda leaves a voicemail message for Lilian: the prospective tenants are no longer interested, since they cannot do their own decorating – told you so. Phoebe is keenly interested in Brenda’s prospects of finding alternative accommodation, though she is quick to assure her aunt that she and Abbie will manage to share for as long as need be.
  • Rob delivers his report: silage, on target; anaerobic digester, on target; milking parlour, on target; first cohort of cattle ordered. Nevertheless, Brian is not happy because they currently do not have a milking team in place. Rob’s protestations that the team is not needed yet and that recruitment is in hand fall on deaf ears; Brian wants an agreement with an agency. Even though it will cost a lot more, that’s the way he wants it done.
  • Brenda meets up with Mike for lunch and pours out her problems. She had such high hopes after university; now she feels she is going nowhere. How can she commit to a 6 month tenancy?
  • Brian is in a better mood but when Jennifer enquires about the cause of Rob’s long face, Brian confesses to having delivered a small rocket. He thinks that he and Rob understand each other better as a result.
