Brenda has her fill of Amside. Tom has a tour of the mega dairy. Rob has some possible members of staff to consider.
Radio Times: Tom fills Brian in and Brenda is having a good time.
Characters: Brenda, Brian, Lilian, Rob, Tom, Vicky- Life is proving hard for Brenda, who asks Vicky if she can use their bathroom, since it is such a scrum next door with everyone trying to get ready at the same time. Vicky witters happily on, but does, for once, recognise that Brenda has other things on her mind; work is the main problem and the absence on holiday of Matt and Lilian will do little to minimise it.
- Tom arranges to meet Brian, who is late. Instead Rob offers to show Tom round the mega dairy, and Tom, once so committed to free-range, organic animal husbandry seems almost won over. When Brian arrives, Tom wastes no time in telling him about his contract with Bellinghams and his move from organic to welfare friendly meat. As Tom leaves, Brian appears quite dazed with information overload.
- After a welcome break playing with Bethany and hearing Vicky’s grandiose plans for the Christening, Brenda asks Lilian to tell her what she is supposed to do in their absence, and mentions some matters that require Lilian’s attention, but gets a very snappy response. Brenda sticks to her guns, telling Lilian that Darrell and Elona’s house is not attracting viewers because it needs redecorating and the rent is too high. Lilian flares up and tells Brenda to go away and leave her in peace.
- Rob fills Brian in about possible staff; an application from a girl sounds promising, but a Filipino man with just the right experience could present a problem. They would have to hire him from an agency to get round visa problems. Which one will appeal to Brian?
