Brian asks Tom to be the Attorney for Ruairi. Phoebe guilt trips Jennifer into funding her holiday.
Radio Times: Will tries to gather support, while Brian makes his pitch
Characters: Brian, Jennifer, Neil, Phoebe, Tom, William- Jennifer is having to supply water to the pickers when she moans to Brian that Lynda is still trying to pester her about it being Lilian’s 70th. Lilian doesn’t want Justin to know but Brian thinks he’ll already have worked it out. Jennifer thinks she does look younger than her age which Brian puts down to monkey glands. Maybe that’s the reason behind her trip to London. Meanwhile, they are discussing the Attorney for Ruairi. Jennifer suggests Tom. Brian is surprised but Jennifer thinks he has come a long way and has a good business head on his shoulders.
- Will tries to convince Neil that Harrison needs to resign. He’s lied and cheated and has to go. There should be a vote of no confidence. But Neil won’t make a decision. Harrison shouldn’t have lied but without him there wouldn’t have been a team, and certainly not one in the League. He’ll have to think about it.
- Jennifer asks Brian if he know Harriet Vane. Neither of them can quite place it but Jennifer is sure she knows the name. Phoebe comes to visit. She can’t see the attraction for Freddie of working in the polytunnels – maybe there is a girl who is the cause of his interest. Jennifer asks if Phoebe is interested in picking but she says she has another problem. She really wants to go inter-railing with her friends but she just can’t afford it and she can’t ask her parents. And she hasn’t got time for a job with all her reading. Jennifer agrees to help her out – a top up for her birthday present, shopping for a new hard drive and some money for her trip. Gosh, that was a surprise…..
- Will tries to convince Tom that a vote of no confidence would be a good thing. Tom thinks there might be an easier way, maybe an apology. Will thinks that is a cop out. Later Neil speaks to Will. It’s been a hard decision but there is no excuse for dishonesty. If it came to a vote, Neil would be on Will’s side.
- Brian talks to Tom about the possibility of him being an Attorney for Ruairi. Tom is astonished. But Brian says that he thinks he is the right person. Young enough to see Tom’s point of view but old enough to have a sound business brain. He doesn’t need to decide now. He can take his time.
