Radio Times: Lynda sticks to her guns, and Matt wants everything to be right

Characters: , , , , , ,
  • Lynda is still trying to get at Eddie with more e-mails from Harriet Vane. She pretends she isn’t concerned about it but is clearly very bothered. It is false advertising and they are just trying to steal her business. It gives all b&bs a bad name. She wants them to face up to their responsibilities.
  • Matt is planning an investment day at Grey Gables – he insists it isn’t actually his, he is just helping out a friend. Security will be the most important thing. They can’t have people walking in on their private discussions. Roy says they always have staff on duty but Matt says this isn’t any old conference, this is A list investors so Roy’s head will be on the block if things go wrong. Phoebe turns up at an opportune moment and says she’s bored. Alice has invited her a drink but she is broke. Roy reluctantly gives her a fiver and a couple of quid in change. Phoebe isn’t impressed.
  • Fallon thinks Lynda is sounding stressed about the fete but rejects Fallon’s offer of help. Fallon does have an idea for a celebrity cheff to open it though – one of the Duxford sisters.
  • Christine has finally got a time for the replacement boiler and is prepared to replace the peeling wallpaper too. When Fallon goes round to look at samples, she isn’t over impressed, and she is less impressed with Hilda sitting on her. She escapes quickly saying she has taken photos of the “best” samples. Christine, however, is very pleased to have her and Harrison as tenants – she hopes they stay for a long time.
  • After the drink, Phoebe is sulking because Alice wouldn’t let her buy a drink. Phoebe says she’s worked so hard and all her friends are off travelling and she is stuck in Ambridge. He offers to get her work at Grey Gables – that’s what Alice did at Phoebe’s age but Phoebe storms out.
  • Peggy tries to talk to Christine about Fallon and Harrison. It is so hard for young people when they can’t get on the housing ladder. Then Matt turns up. Christine is friendly but Peggy less so. Matt wants a chat with Christine – she’s the one who knows about horses. Christine is rather surprised but says she’s always happy to talk. Matt makes a point of telling Peggy he is happy to see Lilian settled but Hilda sees him off.
