Brian does the deal and sweetens it for Adam.
Radio Times: David tries to make amends, and Brian looks to cheer up Adam.
Characters: Adam, Brian, David, Jill, Pip, Ruth, Toby- A bargain has been struck: Brian has beaten Justin down to £2.5M. Adam is not especially impressed but Brian has something else to tell him, once he has finished feeding the ewes.
- Grumpy Jill has been brought a cup of tea by Ruth, though she is told off for waiting on her. Now Jill claims that her ankle injury is all Toby’s fault: he startled her. David brings good wishes from Kenton, who has just offloaded half his driving tuition duties onto David – Lily to be precise, so better get a crash helmet, David.
- Adam is playing hard to get but Brian goes looking for him; he wants to talk. Brian now feels that the finances are not as tight as he thought, so the herbal lay trial can continue for a couple of years. He made a mistake in calling it off.
- Pip is still giving Toby a hard time over his failure to tell her that he had an allowance from his father or that it was stopping. She is much more sympathetic to Rex than his brother is. Adam phones with the good news.
- Pip quickly passes the news to her parents. It’s a bright spot alongside their troubles with Jill. Ruth has an idea and David immediately puts it into practice. He visits Rickyard and offers thanks to Toby for his help with Jill, as other members of the family have already done; Toby’s action was no mean feat in such trying circumstances. Toby thinks it is all a bit over the top but Pip assures him that the family are ashamed of Jill’s behaviour.
