Brian pushes through the farm share idea at the family meeting despite some objections while Helen receives her final divorce decree from Rob.
Radio Times: Kirsty has a day to remember, and there is a family gathering at Home Farm.
Characters: Adam, Alice, Brian, Helen, Henry, Jennifer, Kate, Kirsty, Lynda, Pip- Alice and Pip gather to take part in Kirsty’s charity walk–at 5 am on Sunday! Unsurprisingly, Alice complains about having to wake up so early but Pip notes that she is used to this. Alice asks about Pip’s relationship with Ruth but then notices Pip’s bracelet and is impressed. Alice muses that if Chris gave her something so nice it would mean he was up to something. Pip avoids this conversation but Alice asks if Toby is helping with the clean-up of Rickyard. (Cue general laughter from the listeners if not from Pip.) Helen and Henry wander up and ask for Kirsty. Lynda reminds everyone to watch out for speeding cars but Kirsty is late. She finally turns up and shamefacedly explains that she overslept.
- Brian and Adam meet up in the field before spraying and discuss the family lunch to discuss the new farm share idea. They aren’t quite sure about Kate’s vote although Adam snorts when Debbie’s name is mentioned, indicating that he still has mixed feelings about her double shares.
- Kirsty and Lynda look out for birds on the walk when the group begins to break up. Henry practices his quiet voice while Jack stays conveniently asleep. Helen asks Kirsty to meet for a drink later in the evening.
- There is some difficulty with reaching Debbie by computer but Brian decides to start the meeting anyway. Kate has a bit of difficulty when she realises she won’t own her cottage but it will be part of the farm estate. What if Adam or Debbie turns against her? She would be homeless and lose her business. Kate seems to be the only one who is suspicious of her family members but Alice asks what would happen if she wanted to become more involved in the farm; would she receive an increase in shares? Kate jumps in, too, and argues that her business is also part of the farm. Brian just wants to have the issue of shares decided and he declares that all these details will be ironed out later. He hopes everyone will participate in the spirit of compromise. The family meeting is adjourned with no details ironed out but everyone is expected to sign off without knowing the consequences because Brian wants them to. As the family members leave, Debbie’s computer connection comes through.
- Adam had to miss the cricket and things didn’t go very well with Lily and Anisha. Kirsty is disappointed in the pictures from the morning’s charity walk; the lovely colours of the flowers don’t show well on the website. Helen has big news: her decree absolute has come through. Kirsty asks if she has heard from Rob but no word. It is such a relief and Helen is now a free woman, declares Kirsty.
