  • Toby presents Pip with breakfast in bed and a gift – a charm bracelet. She thanks him but also reminds him that money is tight. Pip later approaches Toby and expresses her feelings about not having owned up. To make amends, she would like them to move out of Rickyard Cottage, so it can be rented out once again as a holiday cottage, thereby earning Brookfield an income. With the summer months approaching, and prime time for holiday lets, the sooner the better as far as Pip is concerned. She suggests that Toby moves back in with Rex and Bert, while she couch surfs at Chris and Alice’s. Just until they find somewhere suitable to rent together, of course.
  • Bert has surplus veg to distribute which he offers to Ruth while enquiring about the troubles at Brookfield. He tells her is still reeling from having witnessed Joe Grundy buying a round of drinks in The Bull last night!
  • Brian and Jennifer check on the deer on their land and reminisce they have been in situ for thirty years. Jennifer is planning to join the dawn chorus walk. Brian talks to Debbie over the phone about Home Farm’s partnership idea and she is in favour. A family meeting is called and Debbie will join online.
  • Toby later approaches Bert on the pretext of showing an interest in Bert’s gardening. He butters Bert up about his home cooking and how he misses home grown veg. Bert smells a rat and Toby comes clean about wanting to move back in with him and Rex. Although Bert does not need the money, he sees that he would ultimately be helping Brookfield.
  • Pip tells Ruth her decision and how she wants to make good on her past transgressions. She will not only clean and decorate Rickyard ready for rental, but also undertakes to manage the regular laundry and cleaning duties once it is let. Ruth appreciates the gesture, commends Pip’s maturity and they make their peace.
