Brian refuses to pay for Jennifer’s new kitchen and discovers the consequences.

Radio Times: Brian faces a stark choice, and Ian pushes himself to the limit.

  • It was Ian’s idea to enter the Rough & Tumble challenge but now he is beginning to regret it. He has another training session with Rob this morning and, as a matter of principle, he is bent on giving Rob a run for his money, even if it kills him.
  • The estimate for Jennifer’s new kitchen makes Brian choke on his coffee. No, they are not getting any of the weird contraptions that come with this ridiculously priced kitchen. What’s wrong with buying a kitchen from the High Street or (and this I think was an error) a flat-pack kitchen. Jennifer needs that kitchen; she deserves that kitchen and she is having it! She will not peel another potato in this kitchen.
  • Ian approaches the training session boldly; he opts for a run round Friday’s course. He is finding it tough but puts a brave face on it despite rather patronising treatment from Rob which continues later when he is enjoying a drink in The Bull. Adam is more willing than Ian to respond to Rob’s overtures. Ian basically has him down as a domineering gold-digger; he just doesn’t click with the guy.
  • Where are you Jenny? Brian has found the freezer empty and he is hungry. When she finally returns she has a tale to tell about the sweet little French restaurant that Lilian took her to. As for the freezer, Jennifer explains that she has donated its contents to Alice and Christopher; Brian’s stomach is no longer her concern. This is war.
