Brian’s proposal to buy Brookfield is favourably received.

Radio Times: Brian makes a surprising offer, and Lynda and Jim are back on the warpath.

Characters: , , , ,
  • What? Sabrina has been left in sole charge of the village shop for an hour and a half. Result: chaos. Lynda regales Jim with her difficulties over staging Blythe Spirit: she lacks a Charles.
  • Brian pays a call on David and, after the obligatory enquiry about Heather, makes a surprising offer – to buy Brookfield: house, land, everything. Let’s go and find Ruth.
  • Jim relates Jazzer’s experience of Johnny, who is coming along so well but not in the tact department, though most of the time he and Jazzer rub along well enough. Pat has left a list of new supporters for SAVE – not as many as they hoped for; she is too busy with Peggy’s party to attend tomorrow’s committee meeting. Lynda spotted Peggy in her garden earlier and she didn’t look at all well.
  • Ruth points out that selling Brookfield will come down to price but Brian assures her and David that he will be happy to pay the market price. They thought it would be much more difficult.
  • Lynda feels the need to go back to basics with SAVE by questioning the need for a new road on whatever route. She plans to consult the Borchester Local Enterprise Partnership; the strategic vision for the area does of course include transportation. Jim is bent on challenging the County Council’s basis for their estimates of traffic increase.
  • Win, win! That’s David’s assessment of Brian’s proposal. It would keep it in the family. David is really enjoying talking it over with Josh and Pip. Ruth comments that, in his waxed jacket, cravat and brogues, Brian doesn’t look like the traditional fairy-godmother.
