  • Ed is still having problems with his drinking trough. It doesn’t seem to make sense. Eddie offers to help to get new parts but Ed says he’ll fiddle with it. Ed isn’t looking forward to the shoot. He needs the money but is embarrassed that Emma seems to be doing better than him.
  • Jill and David didn’t enjoy the conversation with Rodways but it is now on the market. And David has been in contact with Glynn about the farm in the north. Jill simply says she can’t make a decision on whether to take the bees with her or not.
  • Eddie is clearing away a sapling that came down in the night in a severe storm. At least it happened before the shoot. It’s going to be bad enough without the wind. Will is sure there is a fox around. Birds seem to be disappearing. He can’t even use his best drive because the land is a quagmire. And on top of everything else, an extra gun is coming and it’s his first time. Someone Justin does a lot of business with. As if there wasn’t enough pressure on Will already.
  • Tony is teaching Johnny about the veg crops. Tony was taking Johnny bowling but now he has cut himself shaving and doesn’t think he should go – Melanie wouldn’t like him. Tony tries to persuade him it won’t matter. Johnny is excited about the bowling. He really did well. And he got a date with Melanie for bonfire night. Though she’ll be relying on Tony for a lift home.
  • David tells Eddie that they’ve made the decision and are selling up. Eddie reminds him that these things can drag on for years. But David says they have their hearts set on moving north. Eddie is a bit shocked at the loss of his job but is also shocked that all of them including Jill are going. Jill is still puzzling about the bees. Maybe the new buyer would want them. She can’t imagine the orchard without bees.
  • Will rings Ed late at night to ask him to do a more important job at the shoot – initially not offering any more money. He then offers some and asks Ed if he is going to back him up or not.
