Caroline has had enough of Grey Gables. David has had enough of badgers.

Radio Times: Elizabeth looks forward, and David is in for a nasty surprise.

  • Alan meets and greets after Harvest Festival at St Stephens. Shula, who appears to have relinquished her membership of the cathedral congregation, asks if she can call round later to talk to him.
  • As it is her wedding anniversary, David rings Elizabeth to ask a) how to cook runner beans and b) if she is all right. He, too, wants to call round later. Elizabeth says she is fine, but asks David to tea.
  • Not cooking runner beans, preferring broccoli and courgettes, Oliver is not happy when Caroline tells him she is off to Grey Gables because guests have complained about a flood in the changing rooms. Caroline has had more than enough complaints recently, so must get it sorted.
  • Angry David tells Ruth about badgers digging up pasture. He and Ruth enjoy the sunshine at Lower Loxley, where a cheerful Elizabeth is able to laugh at reminiscences of Nigel. They want to celebrate Jill’s birthday, but apparently a meeting to discuss Lynda’s Christmas production must take precedence.
  • At the Vicarage, Shula tells Alan about her encounter with Darrell. Alan is sympathetic, but urges her to step back from the situation. He will leave a message for Darrell offering him some of the Harvest produce.
  • On her return, Caroline apologises for her earlier mood. She tells Oliver it is time they sold Grey Gables and freed themselves from all the hassles. Oliver is not convinced; he thinks Caroline would miss it. After the week Caroline has had, it is not time to make life-changing decisions.
