  • Calling in to pay a vet’s bill, Lynda is impressed by all the work going on to refurbish the premises, but declines Alistair’s offer of a health care plan for the llamas. As Shula drops in to check that Alistair will vaccinate the horses, Lynda comments that the ambience of the old waiting room was oppressive; this fails to endear her to Alistair, who seems to be suffering from a surfeit of Anisha’s ideas. Shula backs Lynda up; Alistair needs to modernise his website and use Face Book and Twitter.
  • Emma calls at the shop to ask Jim’s advice on menus. At first he is taken aback, but when Emma mentions poetry and books, he takes interest in the idea and asks Emma to call round later.
  • Lilian has taken a horse out and is not yet back, so Alistair will have to wait to vaccinate it. Shula thinks she is avoiding Jennifer. It must be something to do with the party.
  • True to his word, Jim comes up with a plethora of classical ideas; the cornucopia should be central to Emma’s thinking (as long as she forms the plural correctly.) Emma is delighted and ideas soon flood into her mind. Even Eddie’s rabbit might feature. She dashes off to tell Fallon, narrowly avoiding Jazzer’s work bag as she does, telling Jim he is a star. Pure self-interest, he murmurs modestly.
  • Glad to be back at work, Kirsty throws herself into it, but is furious when Lynda suggests she put herself first; after all, she needs time to grieve. Kirsty tells Lynda firmly that she is fine. It wasn’t a sad event, it was a miscarriage. It happened, it was awful, she has dealt with it. Now Kirsty just wants to get on with her life, if other people will let her.
