Characters: , , , , ,
  • Adam and Ian are planning the drinks for their wedding at the Lower Loxley at the Wine Festival. Ian seems worried about which wine Brian would prefer they choose. They both agree they shouldn’t get drunk at the Stag Party – no unpleasant surprises.
  • Charlie visits the Wine Festival too. Richard Locke then turns up. David asks if Charlie is going to be at the wedding. Adam suddenly leaves and Charlie follows.
  • Once outside, Charlie says to Adam he has to say something to him. He doesn’t need to go to Scotland alone, they could go together. Adam is horrified. He is getting married in 3 days. He would be asking him to give up everything for a hope. Charlie says no, he loves Adam. Will he start a new life in Scotland with him? Charlie insists that all of Adam’s life is a compromise, with Ian, with Brian. Adam insists that Ian is his rock; he’s always there for him if things go wrong. He has strong feelings for Charlie but that isn’t enough. Charlie wants them to take the journey. He could risk it even if Adam can’t. He knows they would be happy; he just has to trust him. Adam says he can’t, his work and his family is in Ambridge. He won’t break Ian’s heart. He’s sorry, but he won’t take the risk for Charlie. Charlie says he understands. Then Ian interrupts. And they leave together.
  • Elizabeth is chatting with Richard. Dan still seems happy with his new girlfriend and tells him she is in Calendar Girls. And then he admits he is moving back to Ambridge – into Keeper’s Cottage. It will be great to have him back in the village.
  • David gets a phone call from Ruth. She seems really happy. It’s a beautiful day and she’s decided to stay a little longer. David hints things aren’t good on the farm. But Ruth says she is having a really great time and learning lots for the farm. David reminds her about the anniversary and Ruth says it’s not an important number. David just asks her to make sure she’s not gone too long.
