  • Lynda is complaining about Charlie being allowed to slip away after being responsible for the outbreak. Susan is more concerned about Lynda’s lack of professionalism in the shop – her beads really won’t do. Clarrie arrives to buy some pipe tobacco. Susan tactlessly says it will soon be everyone back in their homes and it will be as if nothing has happened. Clarrie tries to put a brave face on it.
  • At the rehearsal for Calendar Girls, Lynda says she is feeling much more positive about moving back into Ambridge Hall. She wants Mungo’s Christmas to be special. Roy and Elizabeth play their scenes. Susan manages to spill the beans to Kirsty about Roy and Elizabeth’s fling. Then she manages to point out to Elizabeth that she’s remembered about it too. Then Clarrie rings Susan in a panic – she needs to talk to someone – so Susan heads for Grey Gables.
  • Kirsty challenges Roy about the affair. Roy admits he did it and was stupid. He now needs to concentrate on the girls. That’s one thing he and Hayley would always have in common. Roy then returns the question about how she and Tom are. She thinks they must be improving because she never thought she would be able to set foot in Ambridge again.
  • Clarrie completely breaks down in front of Susan. The hostel for Joe is nothing better than a doss house. Maybe they should have Joe to stay in the one bedroom flat. It couldn’t be any worse. Susan tries to persuade her it is only temporary but Clarrie doesn’t see how they will suddenly be able to afford a 2 bedroom flat. Maybe that will be all they can expect for the rest of their lives.
