Darrell and Rosa are reunited. Helen and Rob are reunited. Can things get any worse?

Radio Times: There is a midnight surprise in Ambridge. Eddie wonders if his plot will prove successful.

Characters: Darrell, Eddie, Helen, Kirsty, Rob, Rosa, Tom

• Eddie’s great plan to reunite Darrell and Rosa looks like coming unstuck as Darrell resists all attempts to persuade him to leave his shed. Eventually he agrees to come to keep Eddie company at Keeper’s Cottage since Joe and Clarrie are both out.
• Rosa has several invitations, it seems, but she decides to go along with Emma’s invitation to The Bull.
• After a bath, a shave and his new clothes, Darrell feels rather better, and Eddie is able to drag him along to The Bull. When they arrive, Darrell wants to run away because it is so crowded, and especially because he spots Rosa, but Eddie is having none of it. New Year’s Eve is the perfect time for making up. At first Rosa is hesitant, but admits that her dad looks quite different now he has smartened up. Darrell tells her she looks beautiful, and they fall weeping into each other’s arms.
• Helen spends the evening with Kirsty and Tom at The Bull, but as midnight approaches she says she is visiting the ladies. There she has a text from Rob, who is waiting outside. He just had to see her … he is so sorry he treated her so badly… he can’t bear not to be with her… will she come back home with him? Does he really need to ask?
