Radio Times: Neil comes to a decision, and Pip makes her excuses to David.

Characters: , , , , , ,
  • Calling in to pick up his phone, Tom finds Brenda packing her things. She tells him she has arranged to call on Pat at lunchtime.
  • An eager Josh meets Neil to hear his decision about the egg business, but is upset when the answer is no. Neil and Hayley think the timing is wrong; Josh must put his schoolwork first. Josh argues his case, but in vain. He will just have to wait, and meanwhile Neil and Hayley might wait before selling.
  • David finds Josh at the farm. He has missed the school bus, and is rude to David when he, like Neil, mentions the importance of school. David’s parental skills are further tested when Pip rings to say that she will not be able to help him tomorrow because she has to work in the library, preparing for a placement interview.
  • Pip rings Spencer. Far from researching farming in Yorkshire as she told David, they are going to London for the day tomorrow.
  • Brenda and Pat have an emotional conversation. Brenda tells Pat how fond of her she is, and what a role model Pat has been for her. She tries to explain that the breakup is because she and Tom want different things. Pat tells her they will all need time to grieve for what they have lost.
  • Darrell finds Neil, who has spoken to the police. This alarms Darrell, who is sure he will go back to prison, or, much worse, find rough justice meted out by Des. Neil assures him that he has mentioned no names, and suggests that next time a fight is arranged, Darrell should tip off the police. Darrell is too frightened to do that, but agrees to tell Neil, who will ring them.
