David and Ruth are committed to making Brookfield successful for the next generation.
Radio Times: Ian considers the future, and there is no room for failure at Brookfield.
Characters: Adam, David, Ian, Josh, Rex, Ruth- David is claiming that his arm is now back to normal. They are waiting to hear what Pip and Matthew think of the farm in Dorset.
- Ian and Adam seem to have a comfortable conversation. Adam is working from home and Ian is wondering if he is going out for a drink but Adam is staying at home. So Ian suggests lunch at Grey Gables. Ian asks if Adam knows anything about when Berrow will be finished. Their guests are complaining about the noise and mess from the dismantling. Ian is curious about what Adam knows.
- Rex is trying to sort out some falling trees. Josh is helping. They discuss the rent agreement for Hollowtree and Rex promises that he won’t let Toby derail things. Josh announces he is going for a degree at Felpersham. He’ll make more use of it than Pip. He can’t believe the new system. You only get decent money in the winter when the milk is low etc. etc. etc. boring stuff about milk. Rex isn’t impressed to hear that Pip has gone away with Matthew.
- Josh tells Rex he isn’t keen on the spring calving. It was just assumed that he would go with it. He’s not going to Felpersham just because Pip did; he’s going to travel the world. Rex asks if Pip is serious about Matthew. Josh says totally.
- David and Ruth are really pleased that Josh is so passionate about the farm. But would they be doing the same if the children weren’t interested. Probably not. But Phil wanted to ensure a future for the children so that’s what they must do too. Ruth is pleased that Pip has come round. They hope Josh will too. There is so much riding on it, they have to make it work.
