Radio Times: There are high hopes for the Primestock Show – until David lets the secret out.

Characters: , , , ,
  • David and Ruth take Wiggo to the fatstock show at the new cattle market. They have high hopes of winning until David takes a look at the opposition; there is a large entry and some fine cattle.
  • Emma is not too happy as she shops with Susan. Christmas presents are very expensive, and Emma is unwilling for her mother to spend a lot on them after all she has done already. They meet Kathy, who tells them all about Jamie’s new job, and how much he likes it.
  • David and Ruth win second place and Wiggo fetches a good price in the auction, so they are pleased. David is sad about Ed and Emma’s departure, and Ruth admits she should have seen it coming. As a magnanimous gesture they will waive the month’s notice but will readvertise the cottage. Tactless David blurts the news out to Eddie, who is appalled.
  • As Susan and Emma have a cup of tea, Eddie comes round to Rickyard Cottage and asks what this is all about. Embarrassed, Susan makes her excuses and leaves, while Emma tries to explain why they had not told Eddie and Clarrie about their financial problems. All Eddie can do is reassure Emma that they are there for them, and will do anything they can to help.
