Ed is exasperated: Mike will not hear of a marketing drive to raise the milk price.
Radio Times: Ed plucks up courage, and Rob gets stuck into village life.
Characters: Caroline, Ed, Emma, Hayley, Mike, Oliver, Rob- Rob is going hunting; at Grange Farm, he complements Ed on the rich, creamy milk that he had on his cereal and thereby gives Ed an idea. Caroline tells Ed that she won’t be able to get to William’s birthday lunch, so she asks him to deliver her present, a rather nice bottle of whisky. Emma phones to ask what she and Ed will be giving him? Nothing!
- Before Mike heads for home, Ed reports the conversation with Rob and suggests that they are not marketing the milk as it deserves; they should relaunch their rather special product, perhaps with a slogan. Mike is adamant that he can’t pay Ed more; he has to face the customers and he cannot take the risk of losing them by raising the price. Exasperated, Ed announces that he must take advice on selling his milk elsewhere.
- After five hours in the saddle, Rob is happy to have a relaxing supper with Oliver and Caroline. He learns about the anti-hunt representative they met today: Patrick. For all her passion, it seems that Lynda did not get her way with the Parish Council over badger signs.
- Hayley has done the shopping for Mike and Vicky and asks a favour in return: a babysitter next Thursday so that she and Roy can go to the Valentine’s Day event at Jaxx.
- It’s Ed’s turn to be adamant: he is not spending money on his brother, though he will sign a card. Emma won’t have that; it’s ungracious; they should show that they are better than that. Tomorrow she will go shopping for a present and Ed will babysit. On Sunday he will be nice! They are not going to let Clarrie down.
