Ed’s first stint in the combine doesn’t go to plan.
Radio Times: Adam trusts Ed, and Roy makes a discovery.
Characters: Adam, Ed, Emma, Harrison, Hayley, Jolene, Roy- There’s a photo in The Echo of Fallon at the fete with a chair she had restored. When Harrison, who has come to rehearse, says ‘looks beautiful’, he doesn’t mean the chair.
- Roy returns home as grumpy as ever about the temporary assistant manager who will be starting on Monday. After all he has done for Elizabeth, hasn’t he proved that he is capable? When he suggests that Elizabeth is doing it to put him in his place, Hayley quite reasonably asks why she would do that. He bluffs – close shave!
- Ed was expecting to drive a tractor working with the combine tonight but there is a crisis for Adam to deal with elsewhere. He persuades Adam that he is capable of driving the combine.
- Hayley tries to get Roy to see things in a better light. Loxfest is the biggest project he has ever undertaken and Elizabeth hadn’t realised the effect it is having on Roy until… Oh dear, that’s let the cat out of the bag. Roy wants to know when she spoke to Elizabeth behind his back and what was said. Don’t ever do that again!
- Before the Midnight Walkers’ rehearsal, Harrison wants a run through with Jolene; he seems to lack confidence. Then the conversation turns to him and Fallon; they seem to be entering the friend zone but he wants it to be more than that.
- When Emma brings refreshments, she gets a ride in the cab. Ed is expecting extra money for this work so broaches the subject of a birthday present. If they had been invited to Jennifer’s party, a new dress would be nice. Unfortunately Ed had not noticed that the crop was heavier here; suddenly the machine is blocked solid. Now he has a problem.
