  • As he helps hid dad with some logs, Ed reflects that they are the lucky ones. He has seen Darrell sleeping rough in Haydon Wood; he has been caught shoplifting too, and will be up in front of the magistrates soon. George is now asking how could God let Ed shoot Baz. What if he hates Ed? Eddie counsels giving him time. If only Ed could turn the clock back. He is determined to get a puppy, to put things right
  • Leonie is lying low; Lynda suggests that she helps Robert with the scenery, but she says she would only depress everyone. Perhaps a DVD might take her mind off James – not so: it seems to make her think of him more. Lynda is very sympathetic as a result of which Leonie assumes they will watch the DVD together. In the end Lynda agrees to stay with her until Robert returns; she is not much good on her own just now and is very grateful for the company.
  • Fallon is organising carol singing for charity in The Bull and Rosa is on the team. Before she goes, Ed tries to talk to her about seeing her dad but it’s no good, she’s just not interested.
  • In The Bull, Neil has a very practical suggestion for Eddie: if Joe is still finding it difficult to get into the trap, why not put some handles to help him; it would be magic to see him driving the trap again. Neil himself is getting cold feet about ringing his Kent Treble Bob on New Year’s Day; three hours is a long time to keep up the concentration. They discuss Darrell; Eddie declares that he is one of us and it is our responsibility to make sure he is alright.
