  • As the Bull prepares for its new breakfast venture, using Neil’s eggs and Tom’s sausages, Jolene catches up on Ambridge news. Neil thinks the surprise party helped Brenda turn a corner in her relationship with Vicky. Meanwhile Harry is anxious about his Burns Night supper for Jazzer.
  • Elizabeth is anxious about the twins’ entrance exams, though Kenton does his best to reassure her. She’ll bring the children to the Bull later, as Ruairidh will be there with Ian. Jennifer is fetching Kate from the airport. She recalls the time she and Nigel discussed adopting Ruairidh. At least they had time to say goodbye to Siobhán. Meanwhile she intends to return to work full-time tomorrow.
  • Trade is brisk at the Bull, but Jolene finds time to cheer the twins up with hot chocolate and a clockwork penguin. Their quiet behaviour upsets her, and, of course, she manages to compare Elizabeth’s grief to her own.
  • Elizabeth takes the children to the church, where a peal in Nigel’s memory is being rung. Freddie says he would like to learn to ring when he is older. Yes, says a touched Elizabeth, that is what Daddy would have liked.
