Radio Times: Lilian has a brainwave, and Elizabeth meets an intriguing young visitor to Ambridge.

  • Jennifer and Susan discuss Helen’s low profile. They assume she must still be unwell but don’t like to raise the sensitive matter with Pat. Still, it’s marvellous for Helen that Rob’s mum has stayed on to help. As the village hall gears up for opening its doors, Jennifer anticipates seeing her recycled kitchen fitted in the hall and Susan fears they will never hear the end of it.
  • As Jennifer leaves the shop, a young girl enters and Elizabeth is sure she recognises her, then remembers. She is Sasha, Richard Locke’s daughter. She’s come in search of her father, following an argument with her mother and hadn’t realised how infrequent the buses were. Elizabeth gives her a lift to meet Richard, who later shows his gratitude with flowers. She shares with him her own difficulties that single-parenthood has brought.
  • Decorating is well underway at the Dower House and Lilian is pleased to see progress. Less progress is being made in Lilian’s quest to nominate Borsetshire Business Woman of the year on Justin’s behalf. Inspiration strikes following a lie down, a face pack, and a timely conversation with Jennifer. Elizabeth seems the ideal candidate, but this will remain under wraps, for now, as she may not make the shortlist.
