Radio Times: Lilian has an unlikely heart to heart, and Emma is on tenterhooks

  • Ed and Emma discuss the approval of the new home estate. Emma sees Justin and corners him to ask about his view on the likelihood of the passage of the building application. Emma is stunned to hear that Justin doesn’t plan to be at the council meeting for the vote. After a brief discussion, Emma convinces Justin to show up for a short while at any rate.
  • Lilian and Brian discuss the panto at breakfast. Lilian asks about the shoot yesterday and Brian mentions that he finally managed to have a word with Justin but he is a hard man to find.
  • The application for the building of homes is passed; Emma is thrilled and she gloats over her victory over Lynda. Justin cautions Emma that they must be magnanimous in their success in order to avoid hard feelings. As soon as the paper work goes through, at the end of February, the building works will begin with the completion estimated to take around 18 months. Justin hopes Emma has her deposit saved and banked. Emma weakly replies of course she does.
  • Lilian goes to the Dower House to see Ruby and Justin comes in. An awkward conversation takes place. Lilian protests that she misses Justin and there was nothing physical with Matt. They have a disagreement over who had the greatest number of affairs. Lilian leaves while Justin slumps in despair.
  • Emma talks to Ed about the thousands they need for the deposit. Ed is discouraging but Emma is determined. Ed finally says he believes in Emma and she will find a way to do it.
  • Lilian turns up at Home Farm needing some comfort but Jenny is out. Lilian confesses to Brian that she thinks it is all is over with Justin and she collapses in tears. Brian does his best to console her while recounting his own misdeeds. He and Jenny are still together so there is hope. Lilian says she would do anything to get Justin back but how will she do it?
