  • Pip has already done the milking but Toby is still in bed. She asks him at least to get something for supper which isn’t a takeaway. Pip is nervous about her presentation at the farm walk but Toby doesn’t care, it’s his gin which is the critical event of the day.
  • Brian is amazed that Alice has turned up at the farm walk. He’s also worried about the state of the fields. He wished he’d waited before investing in the drill.
  • David does try to boost Pip’s confidence but there is a difference between talking to Open Farm Sunday and professional farmers. Alice distracts them by saying she has washed her hands of Mother Goose. She was only helping because Kate couldn’t get off her backside but Lynda thinks Kate can do know wrong.
  • The farm walk goes well with the farmers being impressed by the way the cattle have settled down to the new system. Brian still isn’t convinced. He heard a few comments that there wasn’t much difference between the two soil samples. David joins them in The Bull and says he thinks it was a great success. There were some sceptics but most took the message on board. Even some old hand climate change sceptics turned up. Nothing will convince Brian though.
  • Toby gives Pip a sample of the next batch of gin. Pip likes it, green leaves and hay. It is a bit strong though. Toby thinks he has cracked it. That is what is going to make his fortune. Pip tries to tell him not to get carried away. They aren’t gin experts. Pip recommends Lilian as a tester. Toby is more interested in Kenton.
