  • Harrison bemoans his troubles as captain when Toby claims ‘groin strain’ as an excuse to duck out of cricket. Fallon tells Harrison about Beverley’s ‘funeral’. Jolene had to hide out in Wayne’s apartment all day watching ‘Walk the Line’ and Kenton wanted to know why she was singing Johnny Cash songs all night.
  • Brian brings refreshments to Adam out in the fields. They discuss a fellow that Brian has met who used ready meals to save his farm profits; Brian notes that Tom may be interested as well as Adam, who remains sceptical.
  • Emma and Fallon discuss the fairy grotto while they pack up the cricket tea. Emma worries about leaving Kirsty in charge of the tea room. Emma discusses looking at a place in another village. Susan has never forgiven Ed for throwing up on her sofa. As Emma and Fallon are setting up the tea, they notice the poor score of the Ambridge side. Emma has all sorts of ideas for a Brazilian tea in honour of the Olympics.
  • Harrison asks Rex’s opinion on his talk to the players before the match. Rex tries to be polite but Harrison presses him to be honest. Rex advises him to be himself and be simple. It is just village cricket so don’t go over the top. Rex also apologises for Toby’s absence. Rex confides that he has a girl that he is interested in but he just doesn’t have Toby’s confidence. Fallon tries to raise Harrison’s spirits during the tea break. Rex tells Harrison that he is a lucky man. Rex goes on to talk about the great qualities of the woman he has his eye on. Harrison tells Rex that it took considerable persistence to win Fallon. He encourages Rex to do the same.
  • Adam calls Tom and asks what he is doing on Tuesday. Adam tells Tom about the open day on a farm in Worcestershire who built their ready meal business from a standing start. Tom simply can’t get away but Adam asks that he look at their website. Adam found it inspiring.
  • After the end of the match, Brian tells Adam that Ambridge won by just three runs and praises Harrison’s leadership. Tom arrives to bring some baby things for Lilian’s visit to Jack. Tom notes that he looked at the website and Tony felt Tom could be missed for a day to investigate the open day with Adam.
