  • Helen is going back to prison. Peggy says she and Tony are fine and happy to be with her for the last time. Helen really doesn’t want to be with the baby. She really won’t hold him and is letting the midwife feed him. Helen thinks they should be back at the farm. Tony insists they are coping, it’s what they do.
  • Tom and Kirsty reopen the shop. Kirsty lets Tom know that Jazzer will be around. Tom is still reluctant to talk about things. Kirsty insists Jazzer didn’t mean anything by it. People react badly under stress. He should know that if their conversation meant anything.
  • Tom and Jazzer do meet up and after a few national stereotypes, they agree Jazzer will come back. They agree they are as bad as each other and Jazzer is straight back to work.
  • Tony drags out of Peggy that Helen shouted at her when she tried to get her to hold the baby. What good is the MBU being nice if Helen can’t bring herself to love Rob’s child. They will have to persuade her that the baby is more of an Archer than a Titchener.
  • Tom tells Pat she has to stop blaming herself. It’s rather self-indulgent. Pat begins to agree but the shop seems such a small thing. Tom says it isn’t. It matters to Helen that the shop and the farm are running normally.
  • When Peggy and Tony go to say goodbye, Helen seems to have turned a corner. She’s dressed the baby in a sleep suit Pat sent and asks Peggy to give her the baby. She wants him to be smart on his first journey into the outside world. And she’s decided on a name for when the registrar comes to the MBU to register him: John Anthony Archer, to be known as Jack. Her baby will be known after 3 good men.
