Helen enjoys being called back to the shop; she will choose her moment to tell Rob.
Radio Times: It is Valentine’s day, and Ambridge remembers the 1940s.
Characters: Adam, Bert, Carol, Helen, Joe, Kenton, Pat, Rob- It’s the 1940s-inspired ‘We’ll Meet Again’ afternoon at The Bull. Joe’s arrived early and his eagle eye ensures Kenton’s bunting is straight. Joe’s looking very dapper, as is Bert, according to Kenton. Amazing the difference a bit of Brylcreem makes, although as Joe reminds Kenton, it’s feet on show today not hair! It’s not long before the two are fighting over asking Carol for a dance.
- Tina has walked out of the shop, stating ‘it’s too stressful’ and has left the keys with Anya. Rob’s at work so Helen’s holding the fort and calls on Pat to look after Henry while she visits the shop. She later confides in Pat that she enjoyed being back there, feels competent in organics and it felt good to be back in the driving seat.
- Rob is left in the lurch at The Bull. He never wanted to go in the first place and can’t think what has delayed Helen. Adam comes to the rescue and jokingly offers to dance with him. As the pair observe the couples on the dance floor there is an awkward moment when Adam notices Shula does not seem her usual self and Rob refers to the trouble at the hunt. When Helen arrives she tells Rob she was delayed due to Henry and he uses the opportunity to suggest that Pat can’t cope, as well as drawing attention again to his bruised arm. Helen later tells Adam the truth of her delay, and that she’s seriously considering returning to the shop on a more permanent basis. Adam, who never could quite understand why she left in the first place, assures her he will not mention this to Rob until after Helen has spoken to him herself.
- Harrison’s sent Fallon a flower arrangement shaped as a teapot, as a nod to her business. Neil and Susan receive the ‘Most Loved-Up Couple’ prize. The ‘Most Elegant Dancers’ award is a tie: Bert and Carol and Joe and Carol!
