• At Brookfield they are awaiting the arrival of Elizabeth with the Gloucester heifer that Freddie is taking to the Show.
• Meanwhile at Bridge Farm, Pat is on tenterhooks waiting for the verdict on ‘lonely cow’. She is rather surprised by a request from Helen to invite Rob to dinner. What is that about? She need not have worried about the cow: the test is clear and Tony will take her to market next week. He is already getting used to having no herd. Now they must decide how to invest the money wisely.
• As they prepare the heifer, Elizabeth voices her ambition to make unpasteurised Gloucester cheese with milk from her Gloucester cows. Anyway, the heifer looks good and, though Josh is nervous, Freddie is confident.
• Helen reports having seen Lilian in a rush; her holiday doesn’t seem to have relaxed her. Alone with Tony, Pat expresses her unease at having Rob as a dinner guest but she had little choice; they have such different ideas about dairy farming.
