Ian and Adam agree to try for surrogacy rather than adoption.

Radio Times: Ian has a new resolve. And what’s cooking with Lexi?

Characters: Adam, Helen, Ian, Johnny, Lexi, Roy

• Johnny hasn’t had his forms signed and his tutor is anxious. Helen agrees to sort it out with Tony. Ian turns up and they talk again about the adoption. Ian is still concerned that it is going to be hard work. He is amazed how keen Adam is now. Helen is surprised they aren’t considering surrogacy again. He was so keen before on having his own flesh and blood but now he just wants a child. It’s as simple as that.
• Lexi is considering her dessert for the flower and produce show. Roy says Lexi can use his kitchen for cooking for the show. Roy is having trouble with work which leads to Lexi seeing his dating spreadsheet. Lexi thinks it is great fun.
• Johnny is doing well at Home Farm and Helen takes the signed documents round. Johnny admits he was a bit concerned but Bert has been singing his praises which reassured Tony a bit. Helen reminds him that not everyone thinks about farming the same way as Bridge Farm and that they will miss him.
• Lexi has been testing out her baking. Roy thinks is amazing and wants more. Really delicious and different. It turns out that she has worked in catering before and has ideas for how Roy can host a disability conference at Grey Gables but the cooking is the key for the moment.
• Adam makes Ian to sit down for a talk. He knows something is worrying Ian and won’t leave until he gets an answer. Adam insists he is so committed and if even Peggy agrees it must be good. So Ian wonders if he is the weak link. They’ll have to talk about everything. Will that be okay? Ian now thinks they may be jumping the gun. He admits he still thinks he is screaming for a child and really wants surrogacy. He thinks that really would be the most amazing thing in the world. Adam says that would be totally different and he isn’t sure but if Ian is certain then Adam agrees.
