Ian and Adam go to dinner at Blossom Hill and are incensed at the way Rob is treating Helen.

Radio Times: Tensions rise at Blossom Hill Cottage, and Rob wants things his own way.

Characters: , , , ,
  • Adam and Ian are discussing their dinner date with Helen and Rob. Ian is a lot more positive than Adam. Adam is convinced she is heading for another fall. Ian thinks he is being over protective and they need to get to know him for Helen’s case. They have a laugh at they might enter the Rough and Tumble race.
  • Rob goes to Home Farm to borrow a wok from Jennifer. Ian drops in to approve her choice of kitchen designer and gives her some tips.
  • When Rob gets back to Blossom Hill cottage he continues dominating Helen by saying stir fry isn’t good enough and insisting he goes out for steaks and telling her Henry must be in bed before Ian and Adam arrive. Then he complains about her hair, tells her when she’s had enough wine and refuses to let her settle Henry when he starts to cry. Helen’s insistence on Rob’s brilliance at sport makes Ian commit to entering the Rough and Tumble with Adam; after more patronising of Helen and a reference to moving into the Lodge, Ian has to go out for a smoke and Adam joins him.
  • Ian is absolutely furious. This time Adam tries to defend him a little and says he is old school and it goes with the territory. Ian admits that it was Rob’s behaviour that made him commit to the race – plus a text from Fallon about the surprise guest star.
  • After they have left Helen cooes over how wonderful the evening was and how nice it was for Ian and Adam to see the real Rob. He insists that if she is happy, he is happy too.
