In a moment of panic, Jolene kills off the fictional Beverley causing Kenton to offer Wayne a permanent contract.

Radio Times: Kenton gets some shocking news and Lilian has a birthday offer.

Characters: , , , , ,
  • Kenton and Jolene are still admiring Wayne’s menu. But they are looking forward to the awards dinner. Kenton muses that Beverley can’t be there. He wonders if the reason Jolene hasn’t set up a meeting with her yet is because she is jealous. When Kenton wanders off, Jolene calls to ask Wayne what he is playing at, getting her to set up a dinner date with the invisible woman.
  • Brian is helping Adam on the farm. Things are going well which is just as well because Adam is meeting Lilian for lunch. Adam tells Brian how impressive the weights are on the cattle on the herbal leys – and all for an hour a day.
  • Lilian is at home when Justin calls to invite her to Wimbledon for the men’s quarter finals. Justin is surprised she is free but since Helen cancelled the visit, she is. Lilian is puzzled when he suggests an overnight stay. Surely Miranda will want to travel with Justin? Justin convinces her it will be fine. He then suggests another night together.
  • Lilian says she thinks Kenton and Jolene are in with a chance at the awards. Wayne is a revelation. If they don’t get him on a permanent contract soon, someone will snap him up. Kenton insists that now is the time to fix that date with Beverley and Jolene has to blurt out that she died of a brain haemorrhage at the weekend. What a shock! How is Wayne coping?
  • Lilian spreads the word to Brian and Adam that Beverley is dead. Adam is fascinated, Brian less so. He can’t even care about the women he does know, mainly Kate. Still her launch went well and she has some customers – paid from the rent of her cottage while she lives at Home Farm rent free. At least Brian has one sensible daughter – Alice – who will be well prepared for her interview. Adam takes the opportunity to book the Flood Bar for the Cricket Club EGM on Thursday.
  • Kenton couldn’t help himself from talking to Wayne about Beverley. He can’t believe how well he is coping. But he did offer him a permanent contract which did raise a small smile to his face. Jolene says he is a good man. Kenton admits he should have done it in the first place, which Jolene agrees under her breath, would have saved everyone a lot of trouble.
