Instead of mending fences Tony turns on Tom and drives him away again.
Radio Times: Dan is nearly ready to go, and Tony speaks his mind.
Characters: Daniel, Jill, Pat, Shula, Tom, Tony- Jill is enjoying baking back at Brookfield. The boys are helping with the taste testing of her Victoria sponges. There is talk of a new road scheme in the Echo between Borchester and Hollerton. Pat arrives but she hasn’t really been focussing on the news.
- Pat finally gets to see Tom. He tells her how ashamed he is and how he knows he’s let everyone down. Pat says that’s in the past. Now they have to work out how they all need to move forward. Tom tells her Kirsty isn’t to blame. She is the truest person he knows and that’s why he couldn’t go on. The wedding just made him realise that he and his whole life are just a fake. It’s all down to John.
- It’s Dan’s last night at home. Shula admits she is going to miss him. Jill admires his new suit and has bought him a tie to go with the suit and Mark’s cufflinks. Jill comments how much he looks like his Dad. Shula says it breaks her heart that they never met. Jill says he’d have been thoroughly proud of him.
- Tony instantly blames themselves once he realises Tom thinks he needed to replace John. Pat has brought Tom back to the farm so Tony goes to talk to him to sort things out once and for all. Pat thinks he is going to mend fences but Tony just turns on him and tells him it’s self-serving nonsense and Tom is nothing like John. What John got up to is nothing compared to Tom – a supposedly grown man. So Tom leaves and Pat demands to know what is going on.
