  • What will be Kathy’s verdict on allowing Jamie to work at The Bull? When she turns up, Kathy is extra polite to Jolene and insists on talking to her alone. Jamie protests but resistance is futile. She gets off to a good start by apologising for the things she said to Jolene last time.
  • Neither Clarrie nor Susan can keep away from their new grand-daughter. What they are really angling for is to learn the baby’s name but Ed and Emma are keeping them waiting on that matter.
  • Kathy shares the information that Jamie bunked off school. She proposes to make conditional her approval to his working at The Bull. Also, she thinks Jamie should make a token contribution to the housekeeping while he lives at The Bull. Jolene agrees, so Jamie will face a united front.
  • Jamie is told the deal: he may work at The Bull but Kathy’s permission will be withdrawn if there is another adverse phone call from his school – for any reason. Jolene suggests that he pays £10 per week while he stays at The Bull.
  • At last the two grannies get what they are after. The baby will be Keira Susan, the latter name having links to both families.
  • Jolene explains the legal limitations on how much work Jamie can do and says that he can start on Wednesday. She explains that the housekeeping contribution does not detract from his welcome at The Bull but his stay should not be regarded as permanent: ideally he should go home. His mum is trying to see things from his point of view, so would that be so impossible? Yes, it would.
