Jazzer dismisses Jim’s advice. Rob instructs Henry in what to say. Fallon remains positive about her business.

  • Boredom induces the workless Jazzer to offer to join Jim on a bird-spotting outing. Jim is reluctant to accept the offer, but Jazzer manages to wear him down, and they set off for Arkwright Lake. Jazzer maintains and endless stream of inconsequential chatter, despite Jim’s warnings, and a disgruntled Jim soon realises that any bird-life has flown far away
  • Leaving Kirsty to run the tearoom, Fallon and Emma head off to a jumble trail in the hope of finding some items to upcycle. Fallon tries to be optimistic about their business, but Emma is worried. At least they have Jennifer’s anniversary party to cater for, and that could bring in some new business of the type they really want. Meanwhile they have nominated themselves for a local food award.
  • Henry has declined Ursula’s offer of accompanying her to church, and wants Rob to play with him. Rob claims to be too tired, but agrees to read Henry’s new book to him. Henry makes it clear that he wants Mummy to come home. As they begin the tale of Hansel and Gretel, Henry corrects Rob when he says that the twins’ mother was cruel to them; it was a step-mother. Rob quickly corrects Henry.
  • Irritated at his wasted morning, Jim suggests that Jazzer go and make his peace with Tom. Apologise? says Jazzer in amazement. No chance. As far a he is concerned Bridge Farm is history.
  • Rob seizes the chance to instruct Henry in what to say when ‘some very important people’ ask him what Mummy did. He must tell the truth and explain show Mummy shouted at him and tried to make him get in a scalding bath, so that he was sometimes afraid of her. That is the truth, isn’t it Henry? And you must tell the truth …
