Jazzer gets his way over the opening of the Highland Games.
Radio Times: Rob has his own ideas, and Emma is trying to give George something else to think about.
Characters: Brian, Emma, George, Jazzer, Jill, Kenton, Neil, Rob- Where’s Lynda? She wanted a meeting but she has been delayed. Jill stalls as much as she can but both Jazzer and Kenton have urgent appointments at The Bull, on different sides of the bar. Lynda has found a performance poet and he’s happy to open the games as well. Jazzer is not having that because he has completed negotiations for a clan chief to do the job. Lynda will have to stand her man down!
- Emma has a new ploy to divert George’s attention from God: his own garden, complete with a fence and a sign. There are carrot seeds ready to plant and Grandpa Eddie has promised a gnome.
- Rob is able to report to Brian that the agency they have selected are confident of recruiting the milking team on time. Clearly, Rob is not happy: he would have liked to have been more involved in selecting a team that would work well together. However, he who pays the piper … The piper suggests a pint in The Bull to celebrate their meeting of minds on the matter.
- George insists on visiting the village shop to buy more seeds; Emma has to curb his ambitions, the garden being only a modest size. When they get back, Neil delivers a pig, complete with fishing rod, for which George is a bit quick to thank God. Emma suggests he might thank his two grandfathers and save the praying until bedtime, or Sunday. George’s response is to invite his mum to come to church too; that’s not the result Emma intended, though Neil is highly amused.
