  • The drill is working fine after all the fuss, Adam tells Jennifer. Jennifer is sure that Alice has learned her lesson. Adam assures his mother with a smile that he has made his sister eat enough humble pie and he forgives her. Brian is not so sure that Alice understands what she has done but Adam asks about the meeting with Justin. Brian has discovered that Rob Titchener is to be the estate manager who is replacing Charlie Thomas. Adam’s first impulse is to refuse to work for him but Brian advises Adam to find a way to do it. Jennifer is incredulous about the appointment, especially with Helen’s trial coming up. Brian protests he is only the messenger and had nothing to do with the decision.
  • Kaz and Helen have an emotional reunion. Kaz objects that she is tough as old boots; she wasn’t trying to kill herself. She only wanted to hurt herself and had cut herself in the past. Jaden, Kaz’s baby begins crying and Kaz promises to talk to Helen later after she has settled in.
  • Elizabeth has packed a picnic for herself and Richard. She is worried because Lily has announced that she is ‘bored’ with the Cathedral School and wants to enrol in the college with Freddie. Elizabeth thinks it is because she can’t bear to be parted from her twin. Richard points out how sweet that it but Elizabeth is worried that Lily is making a big mistake.
  • Kaz comes in later to visit with Helen. They are moving Helen tomorrow to be nearer the trial. Kaz wants to explain the events of last Friday. Her ex still has Courtenay, her young daughter and Kaz must adjust to that reality. Kaz said she was blaming herself for what happened to the kids and herself. Kaz was trying to punish herself; when she cuts herself, it hurts and she couldn’t think about the bad choices she made in the past. Kaz points out to Helen that they are not so different. Sometimes it is easier to blame yourself and hide it all away. Kaz emphasises that Helen must face the truth and reveal everything. The only way that Helen can save her boys is by telling the whole truth and relating everything in detail.
  • Richard tells Elizabeth that Lily is clever and confident and she will do well wherever she goes. He has made Elizabeth feel much better; if Nigel were here, he would have said the same as Richard. What would he have said about us, asks Richard? Is there an ‘us’, wonders Elizabeth? If there is going to be a next time, Elizabeth says she must take her time and make sure it is right. Richard answers it is fine with him.
  • Jennifer tells Brian she has a good mind to go and tell Justin why it is a terrible idea to hire Rob. Brian points out that Lilian didn’t have much success on that score. Rob is devious and wicked, objects Jennifer, and Justin should know that. Brian says Justin must think Helen will be found guilty and that is why he decided to hire Rob. Jennifer is aghast and makes Brian promise to never even hint of such a thing around Bridge Farm.
