Jennifer tells Lilian how much damage she has done to Christine and Peggy and Lilian agrees she can’t leave thing how they are.
Radio Times: The panto rehearsal descends into chaos
Characters: Adam, Alan, Jennifer, Johnny, Lilian, Lynda, Susan, Usha- Alan is beginning to regret inviting Lynda into the case as she insists on changing the script and dealing with her inner turmoil. She is holding everything up. And when invited to turn up for the christening scene, she absents herself as she thinks the Bad Fairy would be communing with the birds. Meanwhile Fairy Buttercup (Susan) can’t even get her zip up a third of the way. Usha must have written the measurements wrong…..
- Adam finds Johnny working late doing maintenance. He explains that Jeff has decided to give up tractor work because of his spine so he offers Johnny a full time role. Johnny is grateful for the offer but his tutor has told him not to jump into job offers so he would like a few days. Adam agrees as long as he can continue to work full time.
- Jennifer catches up with Lilian. She is furious at the way she has behaved. Peggy is ill, Lilian hadn’t visited and it is all her fault. Lilian doesn’t see how she can be blamed but Jennifer says Peggy is practically having to be Christine’s carer after the shock of the fraud. Lilian says she feels terrible about Christine The thing is she doesn’t know what to tell her about the wedding either. Then Jennifer admits Brian had told her about Lilian’s affair with Paul. Lilian is amazed but understands when she hears it is Matt who told Brian. She is disgusted by him and will never forgive himself. She can’t put everything right but she can’t let things be the way they are.
- Later in the rehearsal the cast complain about Lynda’s acting. Too many long pauses and far away looks. It is putting everyone off and holding everything up. She claims she is trying express how conflicted the Bad Fairy is but Susan has had enough. Usha appears and calms things down. She “admits” that she got the measurements wrong and offers some alternatives and suggests 5 minutes for her to choose a new option. Alan is so grateful for Usha stepping in. He isn’t cut out for this role at all.
