• The marmalade contest is under way at Brookfield though Ruth is hindering rather than helping the process. The marmalade competition at Glebe seems to be producing an alien swamp – and one which destroyed the jam thermometer. Jill tries to sympathise but Phil is still disappointed even though he tries to be a good loser. Best to stick to cakes in future.
• Will is helping Nic with her driving again when the exhaust breaks and she is convinced it’s her fault. This rather seems to damage her confidence.
