Joe suffers; Eddie is determined that Grey Gables will suffer – financially.
Radio Times: Caroline is apologetic and Clarrie is looking after everyone.
Characters: Caroline, Clarrie, Eddie, Joe, Lynda, Oliver- Thinking that Caroline might appreciate some extra help, Lynda has come in to work, full of apology that they should have come back to such turmoil. There is a vile comment on a hotel comparison site. None of this is Lynda’s responsibility, Caroline assures her. They did try to head off Ray’s more extreme ideas but he was the manager. The local authority is due to do an inspection tomorrow.
- Meanwhile Joe is being waited on hand and foot but has a bad wrist break and is uncomfortable. When Caroline calls with sympathy and some of Ian’s pastries she is received by Eddie with hostility to the point of rudeness. When she is gone, Joe has a rest; he has little appetite, even for roast beef. Despite Clarrie’s view that Caroline was genuinely concerned, Eddie is determined that Grey Gables shall not get away with it.
- Over coffee, Oliver admits to Lynda that he was stupid promoting the idea of getting Ray in as manager when the answer was straight in front of them – Lynda. Caroline returns to report that she had a shock seeing Joe so bruised and in pain. Beyond the physical injuries, he is really down; the fight has gone out of him. He is 92, as Eddie had reminded her.
- Eddie is looking for his camera: he needs to take some photos of Joe. Clarrie is sure Joe will not want to be seen like this but Eddie is adamant that it will lead to proper compensation; Clarrie is more concerned about who is going to take him to the fracture clinic on Tuesday.
