Joe turns on Graham.

Radio Times: Joe turns on Graham.

  • In a topical insert, Phil and Shula discuss the lifting of the European ban on British beef, but Phil’s none to impressed with life, despite this reasonably good news – he’s not looking forward to visiting The Laurels later to go through Tom and Pru’s effects. Shula and Jill are heading into Borchester to shop for outfits, which they’re doing when they’re met by a jovial Phil, who seems quite happy with himself. (Strange topical writing, I presume.)
  • Eddie’s still griping at Mike’s behaviour, but Joe gets him to admit that he’d have done the same thing. Graham arrives and Joe connives to speak to him out of Eddie’s earshot, suggesting that he’s heard the rumours and that they could be induced into agreeing to be bought out of their tenancy for the right price. Later, Graham returns with an offer, but talks to Eddie instead. It’s obvious why Joe was hoping that Eddie wouldn’t hear about it yet because he’s very anti the selling of the boys’ birthright for a few pieces of silver. Joe’s very defensive before he sees the offer in Graham’s hand, but when he’s seen it, he’s anti too as the number is obviously nowhere near what he was dreaming of!
