Johnny says no to his new job; Shula says yes to a stay in an ice hotel; Lilian says not much to the thought of visiting Justin.

Radio Times: Jennifer plays matchmaker and Johnny makes his choice

Characters: , , , , , ,
  • Shula tells Alistair that a client has decided not to remove her horses from livery. It should be good news but Shula seems less than impressed. She’s fed up; it’s December and even their proposed holiday is no cause for celebration. Alistair gives up and leaves as Lilian calls to saddle up a horse. She agrees with Shula that long nights are miserable; Shula comments that she will soon be on holiday in a country where it barely gets light. Miserable indeed.
  • At Bridge Farm, Jazzer is getting over his hangover. Johnny’s helping and confides that Adam has offered him a full-time job. However, he’s in two minds. His contact with animals will be minimal. Jazzer reckons that Ed would give his eyeteeth for the opportunity. Johnny recalls Emma’s sideways dig about some people being offered work on a plate. Meanwhile, Lilian finishes saddling Jimba and tells Shula that she would willingly swap places with her, just to avoid Christmas at Home Farm. And that reminds her, she’s not cancelled her honeymoon.
  • Adam meets Jennifer at Home Farm. She’s on her way back from shopping. As she struggles indoors, Johnny turns up for a chat with Adam.
  • Adam finishes lunch at Home Farm as Lilian walks in. She’s been to see Elizabeth to settle the bill for the wedding and cancel the guests’ invitations. Adam gets back to work as Lilian suggests going to Guernsey for Christmas. It may give Justin the chance to move on. Her phone beeps; she’s been getting updates from her shared diary with Justin, concerning several of his meetings which have been cancelled. Jenny wonders if he’s ill and suggests quite forcefully that Lilian should go and see. “Perhaps he is ill” ponders Lilian. Food for thought indeed.
