Justin clearly hasn’t told Lilian about the offer he has made to Bridge Farm.
Radio Times: Pip has her nose to the grindstone and Lilian sounds a warning
Characters: Alice, David, Lilian, Pip, Rex, Ruth- Pip is looking for people to talk to, including Alice, when Rex appears. He’s looking for Josh but Pip has no idea where he is. He is supposed to be helping with the bales. Pip offers Rex a chance to join the haymaking picnic but he turns it down.
- Ruth and David are tracking down skylarks when Pip arrives for the picnic – including prosecco and veal and ham pie. Pip is annoyed to find that Josh is still missing, after he promised. Pip has some good news. There is a last minute booking for Rickyard and they’ve already paid. And there is some interest for July. She hopes to hear from the relief milking agency soon, too. Ruth and David say the money is great but it isn’t all about that. They have so much more to be grateful for.
- Justin is pleased that David stood up for the pig unit. He is feeling quietly optimistic. He doesn’t see much opposition. Lilian does think there will be problems in the village. Kirsty is a real eco warrior. She is very annoyed about the offer of the work on the Millenium wood which she sees as an attempted bribe. Justin clearly still hasn’t told Lilian about the offer to buy 3.5 acres from Bridge Farm. Lilian thinks the return of Lynda tomorrow might be more of a problem.
- When Pip hears Josh is finally on his way, Pip immediately decides to crack on. They are worried that she really is overdoing things. And she bit Josh’s head off when he said she must be grateful to be single. Is she regretting dumping Toby? Ruth can’t believe she’s changed her mind.
- Pip bumps into Rex again and he seems to be avoiding her. He admits it’s harder to be mates after the break up with Toby. He claims he isn’t avoiding her, what is between Toby and Pip is between them but he still seems reluctant. Pip suggests a drink in the pub and Rex agrees but won’t commit to a time.
- Lilian reminds Justin of the interview he has arranged for his PA. And finally she admits it is Anthea. Justin vaguely remembers the name and Lilian insists she is exactly the sort of PA he needs.
