Kathy hears some bad news. Kenton goes onto the attack.

Characters: Clarrie, David, Elizabeth, Kathy, Kenton, Nigel, Pat, Ruth

• Ruth and David discuss possibilities for covering the milking while Ruth is out of action. She’s anxious that no-one should know about her operation until she’s told the children. Pip has already had so much to cope with.
• Nigel and Elizabeth tell Kathy about the witness summons. At first Kathy just doesn’t understand, but when it sinks in that Elizabeth has told the police there was gossip about Kathy and Owen, she is very upset and refuses to hear any more. She rings Pat.
• Clarrie tells Pat that Joe ‘found’ a lovely casserole while they were plucking turkeys. Oddly, she seems to believe Joe’s story, and his version of the stuffing storage.
• Pat rushes to Lower Loxley, and Kenton soon follows. While Pat calms Kathy, Kenton charges into Nigel and Elizabeth’s office and tells them in no uncertain terms what he thinks. Lizzie puts up a weak defence – all she did was tell the truth.
