  • It seems that the peregrines are back, turning the graveyard into – a graveyard; Emma saw the macabre evidence on her way to collect Clarrie for a baby shopping trip, though it’s more looking than actual shopping, until they know whether the baby is a boy or a girl. There is some discussion of names, though Clarrie gives a big thumbs down to ‘Scarlet’. Clarrie cuts the trip short because she needs to get back to get on with Eddie’s birthday preparations. Emma offers to help but has the wind taken out of her sails when she learns that Nic has already arranged to help.
  • Meeting Helen and Henry on the Green, Pat invites herself for a cup of tea chez Helen. Really it’s an excuse to help Helen with a few chores and to renew the suggestion that she come back to Bridge Farm for a short break. No, it would be far too unsettling for Henry, Helen believes. She’ll learn!
  • Kenton calls on Jolene and initially gets rather a frosty reception – hardly surprising in the light of his recent avoidance of her. He confesses that it’s not just the prospect of Ambridge without The Bull that upsets him, but Ambridge without Jolene. He felt they were getting on too well; she is still vulnerable; it is too soon after losing Sid. It was denying his feelings to Kirsty that made him realise how he felt about Jolene. She points out that hearts don’t work to a timetable, and she has feelings too; they joke about supposedly getting wiser as they get older. So they agree to take things slowly, starting with a wine tasting this week.
