  • Justin brings Lilian breakfast in bed, full of admiration for the way she dealt with Matt on Friday by giving him a black eye. Tony rings, wondering why Lilian failed to let him know about Matt, and is taken aback when Lilian tells him that Matt has invited her to tea at Grey Gables, where he is staying.
  • Wasting no time, Tony hurries to Grey Gables where he soon finds Matt and orders him to leave unless he wants another black eye. A truculent and unbowed Matt gives as good as he gets.
  • Another visitor to Grey Gables is Jill, hoping to lift her spirits with a swim. She is amazed to see Matt there but is more concerned about the IBR outbreak and especially about Pip’s despondent state. Kirsty is sympathetic, and the conversation turns to Jill’s bees; she has suffered a hive collapse, losing most of her bees. Josh is unable to offer help as he is so tied up with his business. Kirsty shows interest, and agrees to come to Brookfield to see the hives when she finishes work.
  • With Justin there in case of trouble, Lilian goes to Grey gables but rejects Matt’s offer of afternoon tea. Acidly she remarks that he appears to have done well on her money. Matt agrees; he is part of a consortium setting up a racecourse in Costa Rica, and is in the UK on business. But first he wants to apologise for what he did, and to give Lilian a cheque, the first repayment of the money he stole. She accepts it, wondering whether it will bounce and leaves with Justin. You make a handsome couple, remarks Matt.
  • Kirsty is fascinated by Jill’s bees, and Jill in return is impressed with Kirsty’s approach. She has the makings of a very good bee-keeper.
