• Ruth’s been invited to speak at a Royal Agricultural Conference, but wavers a little until Lizzie suggests that they’d only ask a man to replace her and Ruth agrees, that she couldn’t complain about not being listened to if she turned this opportunity down.
• Julia’s received a letter from Spain which she’s loath to open.
• Roy, who’s generally pro-merger, talks to David, who’s generally anti, about the campaign formed by, amongst others, Phil and Bert to protect the club as is.
• Julia dropping not so subtle hints about her lack of grandchildren and, fed up, Nigel asks her to desist. She feels more than slightly affronted at the chastising and defends her right to say what she like in her own house when back from “exile”.
