Peggy says all the right things, Ed’s grotto delights Emma and Keira, but who will fix the cricket roller handle?
Radio Times: Peggy sets the record straight, and Ed and Emma think about their future.
Characters: David, Ed, Emma, Helen, Peggy, Ruth- Ruth teases David about his paunch. Indignant David tells her it is all muscle. Alistair wants him to play cricket again this week despite his injured hand. What they really need is more commitment from the Fairbrothers. Before then they must get the roller handle repaired – there is always a crisis in Ambridge. But proud David comments on how well ‘Joshie’ did in the TV interview, even if Toby stole the limelight. It’s odd that Joshie is totally unfazed by Neil’s anger at his disloyalty. Well, he is an Archer.
- Ed and Emma take Keira to the wood to look for elves, now that Ed has finished the grotto. Emma is so proud of him. She is anxious about their having to leave Grange Farm, but she thinks her parents will have them back even if Susan can be difficult. Ed is more concerned that George is being given money by Will – he has bought yet another expensive game.
- Helen has a visitor; Peggy comes to see her and finds Helen looking better than expected. Helen is worried that it is too much for her gran, but Peggy assures her the reverse is true. It is doing her good to see Helen and to be able to report back to Pat and Kirsty. She allays Helen’s anxieties over Henry; Pat and Tony have told him what he needs to know; he is going to school and is fine. Above all, Peggy is impressed by Helen’s strength when faced with the panel yesterday. But she IS strong; she’s an Archer woman. Helen seems doubtful, but is determined to keep her children away from Rob. Let us help you, says Peggy.
